Between October 1 and May 31 (the “Heat Season”), building owners are required to provide tenants with heat under the following conditions: – Between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., if the temperature outside falls below 55° F, the inside temperature is required to be at least 68° F. – Between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., if the temperature outside falls below 40° F, the inside temperature is required to be at least 55° F. – In the event of a heat deficiency, a tenant should first notify the building owner, managing agent or superintendent. If heat is not restored, the tenant should call 311 and ask for an HPD Specialist.
